Orders of business
- Tomorrow night ONLY, Mario vs. Sonic Olympics will be featured on the large screen. The game gets sent back to Gamefly Sunday (okay, Monday), so this is the time to check it out.
- We should discuss plans to Role Play, so I know when I should start getting campaign, characters, materials, etc. ready. I'm thinking about doing a Game Night session and then seeing if we can work in a later session with Ted before he leaves.
- There are a couple of games I'm interested in purchasing in the near future, and it would be nice to know who would like to contribute (so I can plan money expenditures).
Change of venue
Announcement: The site of this week's Game Night (tm) will be moved to the Snells' house, in order to take advantage of the projector. That is all.

Another Material Possession I Want
UDON to Release New Mega Man Art Books and Manga
April 23rd, 2009With more than 100 video games in the Mega Man series, the blue bomber is one of the most iconic figures of gaming. Over the past 20 years the diminutive blue robot has been at the head of Capcom’s most popular franchise. Now UDON has expanded the studio’s relationship with the property, and is gearing up to bring new Mega Man art books and manga to English readers.
Arriving Fall 2009, the Mega Man goodness begins with Mega Man: Official Complete Works. This 200 page book showcases 20 years of artwork from the classic and most well-known version of the hero, covering the core Mega Man games as well as little-known spinoffs and even rarer Japan-only titles. Fans will enjoy loads of designs of all their favorite characters like Proto Man, Dr. Wily, Roll, Rush, Bass & Treble and, of course, piles of evil robot bosses! Also within are never before seen rough sketches, rare promo artwork, and commentary from Capcom creators.
Shipping a few months later is Mega Man X: Official Complete Works. This artbook focuses on the original Mega Man’s successor, Mega Man X, who’s unique style and fast paced adventures have made him nearly as popular as his classic counterpart. Here fans will get to see all the dynamic designs of characters like heroes Zero & Axl, deadly villains Sigma & Vile, and all the wild robotic animal men who love to cause trouble for X and his crew!
Also this fall from UDON comes new Mega Man manga brought to you straight from Japan! Initial titles will focus on the adventures of the original Mega Man and also Mega Man ZX, the latest addition to the core Mega Man universe. More details on these and other titles will be coming soon.
(I did not write this. I found it HERE.)

Free Fighter
Remember the classic arcade Street Fighter II? Well now you can play it for FREE HERE!
Speaking of free games, I recently heard of something MyBrute.com. It's an arena fighting game where you create a fighter and set it against other fighters. The unique things about this game is that you create the character and set it down to fight on it's own.

Sonic Animation
Sonic The Hedgehog has been realized in various ways through animation.
An animated film - Sonic The Hedgehog Movie
A few USA animated series:
The best 2D animated presentation I've seen of "The Blue One" is Sonic X
The best I've seen of "Spike Boy" in 3D is in this opening cinematic from the game Sonic Unleashed. This also looks like a freaking awesome game!

Awesome Argonauts!
A little while ago I learned of an adventurer RPG called The Rise of the Argonauts.I'm super excited about an original game based on the on the story of Jason and the Argonauts but what and how they went about designing it is awesome!
Check out this design of Medusa:First off, this gorgon freak'n huge in the game play, and secondly instead of just using snakes as part of the design, they also incorporated snake-like species such as eels.
The design I'm very pleased with is their interpretation of Hercules:The form of his body is something I have not seen done in regards to this character and I love it!!

Hugh Wolverine Hosts the Oscars
Speaking of the Oscars ...
G4 had a nerd reaction against Hugh Jackman hosting the Oscars in an "unmanly" way. What the heck was Wolverine doing up there with all the singing and dancing?!
This response video was created to show what if Wolverine actually hosted the Oscars. Apparently he didn't get much further then the dress rehearsals.

FORHEAD SLAP!!
I can't believe I didn't catch onto this sooner!
Rob Schrab, the creator of the comic SCUD and the short film Robot Bastard, co-wrote and designed the opening music number of the Oscars staring host Hugh Jackman!
Take a look and see:
Go HERE to see his design sketches. He had some great ideas, some of which were not used.

Legend of Miyamoto
This is a great little Flash animation short about Shigeru Miyamoto, the man who created Mario, Zelda, and Donkey Kong.
Life As A Video Game
Check out this cool commercial by artist and animator Paul Robertson. He does a lot of little film shorts in this sprite style.
Yes, Syke is a real drink. This short was made for a commercial competition.
